Things have been pretty busy here at AMS and while we would love to go out racing every weekend, we have to pick our battles carefully trying to balance it out with all of the engineering and shop work. With the Chicago weather finally cooperating thankfully we were able to make time for a track outing to do some testing of the new 2500whp capable ALPHA G R35 GT-R.
The GoldRush Rally 2016
The GoldRush Rally was the perfect venue to torture test the new Alpha 10 Lamborghini Huracán Twin Turbo Package. Spanning 9 days and 3000 miles across America it was an ideal proving ground to demonstrate the reliability of AMS’ new 1000+HP twin turbo system on the factory Lamborghini 5.2L V-10 engine and Doppia Frizione (LDF) 7-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT). In an effort to prove the merits of the new Alpha 10 Twin Turbo system for the Lamborghini Huracan we took testing to a whole new level. Making over 1000HP on pump gas utilizing twin Garrett turbochargers and intercoolers we wanted to prove how this new system safely retains the stock engine and transmission. With only a couple hundred miles on the clock since the completion of this new kit we figured we’d knock out testing in 8 days the AMS way by completing a brutal cross country journey with the folks from the Gold Rush Rally.
We hoped that it would never come to this but sadly we are forced to make this post. Well over three years ago we sought out to develop a billet block for the GT-R. We could have simply copied the stock design and replicated it here in house, but with many areas open to be improved, we wanted to start with a fresh approach. After discussions with several companies we settled on a shop and struck up an exclusivity agreement. They had experience with billet blocks and were somewhat local so we thought we would be in good hands. The whole story is long and enough to make your head spin but we will try to shorten things up.
