The AMS NOS Energy Drink Time Attack EVO X build update! Finally testing at the track!
The last few days have been pretty crazy but we finally got the car all buttoned up and ready for some testing. Here are some pics of the preparations leading up to the 1st testing session:
Here are some quick snaps from our 1st Autobahn testing session yesterday:
The car did really well yesterday and we were able to run some pretty good times on low boost and preliminary suspension settings. We’re back in the shop today making the necessary adjustments and planning to get back out on the track later on this week for more testing. So far things are looking very promising and we’re looking forward to a good showing at the Redline Time Attack this weekend at the Autobahn Country club.
AMS Sponsored Ryan Upham: NASA Blackhawk farms 2nd Place!
This past weekend was the NASA Midwest Blackhawk Farms event. Prior to this event I have only ever done HSAX at this track, so I was excited to see what I could lay down in a flying lap. This event in my class TT-S held some stiff competition, Geffery Swatelle who currently owns every track record in the midwest and who is a repeat top finisher at National events was in attendance. So knowing this I knew this would be no walk in the park, but I wouldnt want it any other way!
Day 1:
The event started off with some heavy rain that eventually calmed down to a constant drizzle. I missed qualifying and was forced to go into the first timed session In last place. After a cautious wet session on slicks I managed a 1:44 and some change which was good enough to grid third for the first afternoon session. It was a very long and dry two hour wait till we hit the track but when we did the track conditions were almost perfect. I spent the whole session glued to Geffrey’s bumper untill we hit traffic. Timed runs after first dry session dropped down to 1:16.7 for Geffery and a 1:17.1 for myself. I was very impressed with my times as my best HSAX to date was a 1:19.1, but back in the pits I was running over 40psi and had to make some obvious adjustments. Back on the track for session 4 Geffery led the way out, after hot lap 1 Geffery went wide on turn 7 into the front straight and it was a drag race! it took the whole straight but I managed to take him on the inside into turn one! After the session ended the times were 1:15.4 for Geffery and 1:15.7 for me. I was amazed my car achieved these times, at this point and the remainder of the event we were the two fastest cars in Time Trials. Are times never dropped below this as a race group accident caused a shortage of track time in session 5. Geffery and his Z06 were fast enough for first and I was happy with an extremely close second by three tenths of a second to a very experienced driver like him.
Day 2:
After a very competitive day 1 I was ready to take a first! Qualifying was looking good as I put many lengths on the cars behind me as I headed out first! 4 laps in, coming out of 3a’s quick left I applied the brakes for a hard right and locked them up and slid off the track. I noticed right away all three indicator ACD light were on and knew there could be some major set backs ahead. realizing that my ACD was in limp mode and that many other systems were affected I pitted the Evo. After many attempts and phone calls I was forced to retire the event after putting a 2:07 to obtain some points. Ben Grham made it out and was running in TT-S as well, posting times in the 1:17′s. I believe he secured a second place finish! Geffery doubled the weekend with back to back firsts and I loaded up my trailer….
Amazing weekend with more problems than I like, but that is racing. I cant thank my sponsors enough, AMS, Stance suspension, and Girodisc once again supplied quality and reliability! Running times that many people said may not be achievable on a stock turbo, it was one hell of a weekend and I am looking forward to future events with NASA and the Nationals more than ever!

AMS GT-R Turbo and exhaust testing HUGE GAINS.
Many of you have been following our threads on some of the new products we are working on. The two that have gained the most attention are the AMS bolt on turbo upgrades and also our new Cast downpipes. Well we finally got some time to do some testing and tuning thanks to Sharif and the guys over at Forged Performance.
Below is a dyno of our project GT-R. The modifications could not be any simpler.
You will see two plots
Both on 93 octane
The red plot has the following modifications:
AMS Turbo’s
850cc injectors
AMS Mid pipe and exhaust
STOCK DOWNPIPES WITH CATS
Cobb Access port with an AMS/Forged Performance tune
HKS EVC
Forge Actuators
587 whp and 555 ft lbs of torque
The blue plot is the same car but now with our new Cast Downpipes…WOW!!!!!
The turbo’s are spooling 500 rpm quicker and the mid range is just INSANE!!! Previously at 3500 rpm we were seeing about 10 psi of boost. With the downpipes we are now seeing 20! up top you can see a 25 – 25 whp gain just about EVERYWHERE!
AFR’s also went a decent amount leaner which is a sign they are workign as they are moving more air.
We need to tweak the map a bit and clean up the AFR’s and throw some more timing at it but right now these turbos, exhaust are working exactly like we had hoped!!!
Team ACP NOS Energy Mitsubishi powered by AMS Performance moves up to 2nd in Rally America points race
WELLSBORO, PA Rally driver Andrew “ACP” Comrie-Picard overcame a series of
big challenges at the Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally last weekend to
move into second place in the Rally America points race.
“It was a tough weekend for us,” said Comrie-Picard. “But every point
counts in this championship and we’re in it for the season.”
Comrie-Picard and Irish co-driver Marshall Clarke fought back from 31st
after a rollover crash to finish the race in 13th overall. The result gave
them the handful of points they needed to climb up one rung in the tight
championship race.
“Marshall and I were actually able to roll the car back onto its wheels and
keep going,”said Comrie-Picard. “It was a soft rollover and with a new
windshield, the car was back to 100 per cent but we lost a lot of time.”
Comrie-Picard is in second-place overall after five rounds in the Rally
America championship, behind Subaru Rally Team USA driver Travis Pastrana
and ahead of Rockstar Energy¹s Tanner Foust.
The Susquehannock Trail event has long been known as one of the most
demanding events on the U.S. calendar. The 2009 running of the contest
featured a return to the popular two-day format, with a spectator-friendly
daylight schedule and super special stages on each day.
³The spectator stages at the fairgrounds in Wellsboro were huge this year,²
said Comrie-Picard. ³It was great for us to see so many fans out there.²
The contest is renowned as one of the toughest on the Rally America calendar
and the team was not alone in having problems. Factory-backed Travis
Pastrana lost a minute on the first day to a suspension failure, Polish ace
Andi Mancin battled braking issues and the Swedish World Rally team of
Patrik Sandell and Emil Axelsson were out with a blown engine on the first
day.
The Rally America national championship includes nine events in a
cross-continent season that extends from January to late October. The
Canadian Rally Championship has six events from coast to coast. ACP Rally
will contest a busy season, with rally events on both sides of the
Canada-U.S. border, select drift events — and the X Games.
The next U.S. event for the team will be the X Games in Los Angeles.
